The Best Jacket Potato

It takes a lot for us to call any recipe ‘the best’, but we’ve worked our way through all of the techniques to find the perfect jacket potato. This recipe will give you a crisp skin with a deliciously fluffy centre that gets even better with a squeeze of Primula cheese. Here’s how to make the best jacket potato, ever!

  • 4 floury potatoes (Maris Piper or King Edward)
  • Olive oil
  • Flaked sea salt
  • Filling of choice
  • 140g tube of Primula Cheese
How you do it

  • Preheat oven to 220°C/gas mark 7.
  • Wash the potatoes well, dry them and prick a few times with a fork.
  • Rub a small amount of olive oil onto the potatoes and scatter with salt.
  • Place directly onto the top oven shelf and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Reduce the oven temperature to 190°C/gas mark 5 and bake for a further 45-60 minutes or until the skin is crisp and golden and the centre is fluffy and soft.
  • Remove from the oven and cut a slit along the centre.
  • Add your chosen filling and top with Primula Cheese.
  • And serve (the most perfect and melty jacket potatoes, ever!).
