NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY MEN'S HOCKEY CLUB SCORES SPONSORHIP DEAL WITH PRIMULA CHEESE
Newcastle University Men’s Hockey Club will face-off in style this season as players sport a brand new kit sponsored by popular squeezy cheese brand Primula.
Having recently announced strong sales for 2009, Team Valley based company Kavli, maker of Primula cheese is keen to give back to the region and support the community through sponsorship deals. Kavli has committed to sponsoring Newcastle University Men’s Hockey Club for the 2009/2010 season. The funds will be put to good use, including a new Primula branded team kit.
Craig Brooks, marketing director at Kavli said: “Primula’s convenient and versatile recipes have proved to be very popular with students over the years and this is a perfect opportunity for us to grow awareness of the Primula brand within an important but hard to reach market segment. We are proud to support such an accomplished local sports team, and I’m sure our samples will provide the lads with a much-needed energy boost!”
Newcastle University Men’s Hockey Club is one of the largest sports clubs in the North East with over 72 players across four teams. The teams represent the university in the British Universities League as well as the College Sports League. The first eleven achieved promotion to the North Hockey Premier League in the 2007/2008 season and has held its position ever since. In this league the team takes on clubs from as far afield as Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.
Charley Wright, club president of Newcastle University Men’s Hockey Club said: “The club has had a great run in the last few years. The first team is now competing on a much more national level and the third eleven is going from strength to strength. We believe that with Kavli’s commitment and investment the club can reach higher peaks in the upcoming season.”
